Interlibrary Loan Service

A guide for the Interlibrary Loan process and how request items.

About Interlibrary Loans

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services provided by the Thomas J. Garland Library enable students, faculty, and staff of Tusculum University the opportunity to borrow books and obtain photocopies of journal articles from other institutions when the material is not available at the Garland Library.

This service allows us to send out requests to libraries across the country and sometimes around the world. We will generally try to fulfill requests at no charge to you, but at times some libraries may have conditional fees. At that time, we will be sure to contact you and ask if you are willing to pay the conditional fee before proceeding with the request.

Requesting Materials

You can send the Garland Library an Interlibrary Loan Request in a few ways. The easiest of which is to fill out an appropriate request form either on the library website or through the Garland Library OCLC Discovery site.

When searching the Garland Library OCLC Discovery site, you may find materials that the library does not have or own. However, there should be a button for "Interlibrary Loan", seen as the orange button on the left side of the screenshot below.

By clicking that button, you will be taken to a form from OCLC that you will need to fill out with the necessary information. This form requires you to provide your name, and Tusculum University I.D. number.

Another way to send an interlibrary loan request, is by filling out the forms found on the library's homepage. Be sure to provide as much information as possible when filling out the form and provide the necessary information required by the form. You can access each of the forms by clicking the links below.

Watch the tutorial video below to learn more about how to request items through the library's online catalog, WorldCat Discovery.
